Tennessee and Kentucky Timberland, Hunting Land to Sell in Major Land Auction
(firmenpresse) - PARIS, TN -- (Marketwire) -- 10/17/11 -- In one of the biggest Tennessee timberland sales in recent years, approximately 5,228 acres of woodlands will sell in two auctions Nov. 17-18.
"This is so big we had to spread it over two days," said Jim Woltz, president of , which will manage the auction. The land, which is being sold by a major timberland investment fund, will sell in 35 tracts, ranging from 10 acres to 422 acres. The auction will include 1,071 acres near Murray, Ky., with all the rest being located in Tennessee.
"This includes a great deal of loblolly pine as well as excellent stands of a wide variety of upland hardwoods. It has been professionally managed by Tri-State Forestry Consulting, Inc.," said Woltz.
The first event -- which will take place Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Paris Convention Center in Paris -- will include 816 acres in Carroll County; 840 acres in Benton County and 539 acres in Henry County. The next day, the Woltz team will move to the Perry County Community Building in Linden for the sale of 1,962 acres in Perry County.
To encourage a wider range of bidders to participate, Woltz said the company is selling the land in tracts ranging from 10 acres to 422 acres. "The majority of land will sell in tracts of 300 acres or less, and we have 16 tracts that are 100 acres or less. This opens the door for participation by individuals, hunting clubs and other bidders that don't have the capacity or need for large amounts of timberland," said Woltz. "Most of this land is located in areas with excellent deer hunting. Henry County consistently ranks in the top Tennessee counties for whitetail harvest," he said.
The auction format is designed to provide a level playing field for bidders seeking smaller amounts of land as well as those who might be seeking all of the property, said Woltz.
