Minister Raitt Recognizes New Collective Agreement for Port of Quebec Longshoremen
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/14/11 -- The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, today congratulated the Societe des Arrimeurs de Quebec and members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 2614, representing Port of Quebec Longshoremen, for successfully ratifying a new collective agreement.
"I applaud both the Societe des Arrimeurs de Quebec and CUPE for working closely together to reach an agreement," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit the economic prosperity and security of Canadians."
The previous collective agreement, covering a unit of approximately 75 longshoremen at the Port of Quebec, expired in May 2010.
