Minister Raitt Announces Reappointment to Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/13/11 -- Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Labour, announced the reappointment of Mr. Donald A. Hurst as the representative for Manitoba to the Council of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), effective immediately.
"I am pleased that Mr. Hurst has accepted this reappointment to the Centre," said Minister Raitt. "His experience and knowledge in the field of occupational health and safety are definitely an advantage for the Centre."
Mr. Hurst was first appointed to the CCOHS in December 2006. He is currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Workplace Safety and Health Division with Manitoba's Department of Labour and Immigration. Prior to this, Mr. Hurst worked as a Project Manager with the Manitoba government's Community and Economic Development Committee of Cabinet. He has held progressively senior positions since he began his career with Manitoba's Department of Finance.
The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, located in Hamilton, Ontario, was created in 1978 to promote the fundamental right of Canadians to a healthy and safe working environment. Governed by a tripartite council representing the federal, provincial and territorial governments, employers and workers, the Centre provides Canadians with unbiased and relevant information that supports responsible decision making on health and safety issues in the workplace.
