Vision Warning for Motorists from The Insurance Line
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- The Insurance Line is warning motorists to ensure they have the legal eyesight requirement before they go behind the wheel after a survey of motorist revealed that nearly one in five have not had a eye test for three years or more.
The Insurance Line surveyed 1,000 motorists and found that 18% have missed eye tests possibly falling short of the legal requirement and putting themselves and the lives of other road users in danger.
At the start of a practical driving test, the learner motorist is expected to be able to read a number plate from a distance of 20m, with corrective lenses or glasses if required. Those who cannot do this after three attempts will not be permitted to complete the driving test.
According to the research carried out by The Insurance Line the most common excuses for not taking regular eye tests include 'I don't have time' (49%) and 'I don't think it is necessary' (27%).
A spokesperson for The Insurance Line said, "It is vital that motorists go for regular eye tests as failure to do so could result in a nasty accident, an unnecessary claim and points on your licence."
