Battery Maintenance Essential if Motorists are Going to Keep Cars for Longer, Says CTEK
(firmenpresse) - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- According to new research from automotive market consultancy, GfK Automotive, as many as one in three motorists are hoping to keep their cars going for longer as they struggle against inflation and rising petrol prices. However, to achieve this successfully, effective is essential, says CTEK, a leading global brand in the care and maintenance of vehicle batteries.
Over 4,000 motorists were questioned for the study, which revealed the lengths that motorists are going to, to reduce outgoing motoring costs. Over half have cut overall car use, with one in 10 increasing car sharing schemes with friends and work colleagues, while a quarter have moved insurance providers in a bid to reduce premiums. Additionally, 17 per cent now service their cars at local independents, rather than franchise dealers.
However, it was also revealed that one in 20 drivers had in fact gone to the extent of cancelling, or not renewing, breakdown recovery services. As a result, motorists need to be particularly thorough when performing vehicle maintenance tasks to avoid the frustration, and possible expense, of breaking down.
One vehicle component which is essential to maintain, but which is often overlooked, is the battery. The battery is a very sensitive component and its affectability can be reduced by many elements. If the weather is too hot or too cold, if it's not used enough or not used for long enough, the battery can suffer from a depleted charge or, the additional strain placed upon it can significantly reduce its life span.
