Pine Brothers Throat Drops Selling Out in Stores
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- Pine Brothers, maker of the eponymous soft throat drop, reports a sell out of their products throughout stores across the United States. David Roach, Pine Brothers' company spokesperson, attributes the boost in sales to the national ad campaign, which began today, and to the fact that Pine Brothers has been unavailable to consumers for nearly 10 years. "We literally ran one :10 TV spot on Regis & Kelly this morning, and already most of our stores are reporting outages, particularly in the northeast." The company, which was founded in 1870 and has been selling their "softish" throat drops for over 140 years, was recently acquired by Victoria Knight-McDowell, the former school teacher and creator of the Airborne immune support formula, which she sold in 2005 and then again in 2009. "Pine Brothers has a uniquely loyal following with consumers, and perhaps this accounts for the rush on the product," says Knight-McDowell. "This and the fact that they're a wonderful and trusted brand."
Pine Brothers offices have been overwhelmed with phone calls from consumers, frustrated by their inability to find the product on the shelves of their local drugstore or supermarket. Other calls have come in from consumers who, having found the product, are buying up all of the inventory on the shelf. Bruce Morgan, of Wall, NJ, reported spending all day looking for Pine Brothers in his local drugstores. "This was one of my favorite products as a kid and when I heard someone mention it on the radio, I immediately went to two CVSs, a Rite Aid and a Walgreens. Nobody had it. Maybe I'll go on line."
Pine Brothers is adding distribution daily in an effort to keep up with demand. The product can be found at CVS nationally and Kinney Drugs in upstate New York or via various websites like or . Stores can purchase from national wholesalers AmerisourceBergen, McKesson & Cardinal Health. Says, Mr. Roach, "Are we having challenges getting our product into many of our consumers hands? Yes. Are these good problems? Yes."
