New Product Launch Showing Early Success in China

(firmenpresse) - WILMINGTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- Implant Sciences Corporation (OTCQB: IMSC) (PINKSHEETS: IMSC), a high technology supplier of systems and sensors for homeland security markets, today announced it has received its first orders for the recently introduced Quantum Sniffer™ QS-B220 bench-top explosives and narcotics trace detector from China.

With over 800 units installed in numerous locations, the Company's QS-H150 portable explosives trace detector has gained significant market traction in China for a wide range of deployments across the country. Because of its increased sensitivity for explosives and its new narcotics detection capability, the QS-B220 extends the reach of Implant Sciences' product line, providing additional opportunity for new potential customers in security, customs, and corrections facilities.

"The QS-B220 has received a very positive response from customers in China. We, and our Chinese distributors, believe the new Quantum Sniffer bench-top has the strong potential to meet and exceed the kind of sales levels we've seen in China for the QS-H150 portable unit. We anticipate that these units are just the beginning for the QS-B220," stated Glenn D. Bolduc, President and CEO of Implant Sciences.

The QS-H150 Quantum Sniffer is a hand-held explosive trace detector that uses Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) to rapidly detect and identify trace amounts of a wide variety of military, commercial, improvised, and homemade explosives. The QS-H150 features non-contact detection and a low-maintenance design that is self-calibrating and self-clearing, providing very high levels of operational availability.

The QS-B220 Quantum Sniffer, introduced in May 2011, is a bench-top explosives and narcotics trace detector that uses Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) to rapidly detect and identify trace amounts of a wide variety of military, commercial, improvised, or homemade explosives and narcotic substances. The QS-B220 continues the Implant Sciences tradition of freedom from radioactive materials, low total cost of ownership, and high operational availability.

Implant Sciences develops, manufactures and sells sophisticated sensors and systems for Security, Safety, and Defense (SS&D) markets. The Company has developed proprietary technologies used in its commercial explosive and narcotics trace detection systems which ship to a growing number of locations domestically and internationally. Implant Sciences' QS-H150 portable explosives trace detector has received Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology Designation and the Company's QS-B220 bench-top explosives and narcotics trace detector has received a Developmental Testing & Evaluation (DT&E) Designation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act of 2002 (the SAFETY Act).
