Will Deploy 260 Seats of Vico Office
(firmenpresse) - BOULDER, CO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/12/11 -- Vico Software, the leader in 5D Virtual Construction™, is pleased to announce that Hartela Corporation, the Finnish construction innovator, will deploy 260 licenses of Vico Office for use on new construction projects.
Hartela invests widely in real estate in Finland and develops suitable properties according to market conditions. In order to determine the feasibility for their projects, Hartela requires real-time estimates as early as possible. Vico Office will allow the team to evolve the design and the estimate at the same time -- making it clear which type of project is most profitable for that area. Improving production control and cost control on these projects are other important benefits for Hartela.
The Hartela Team first realized the immense opportunity for real-time cost and production control during their first 5D project -- the Skanssi Center -- a 150 million euro retail center project in Turku, Finland. Jukka Mäkinen, Vice President of Production at Hartela, stated, "Production control charts were a very useful tool in this project. We were able to control project costs in the field by managing to the schedule and were able to recognize the main risks of the project very early in the process by performing schedule risk analysis. The project was handed over on-time and within budget and planned resource loading was close to actual for critical trades. Hartela has been developing a knowledgebase of construction means and methods since the 1980s. When combined with , a collection of thousands of BIM model elements and their own compilation of building components, Hartela's estimating team will be able to create cost estimates in a fraction of the time. Having this information early will speed data-driven decisions -- so the design and construction teams can optimize the program, the scope, and the project profitability.
The other important aspect of building production is cost controlling on-site. This is achieved by comparing the actual work put in place to the baseline schedule and making course corrections in real-time. It is Hartela's goal that their foremen and superintendents will use Vico Office to collect this site productivity data and analyze it in terms of quantities by location. These have been part of Hartela's success since 2004.
