Panjiva Co-Founder and CTO James Psota Honored Among Boston's Most Promising Business Leaders
Named to Boston Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Class of 2011 for Professional and Personal Achievements

At the age of 31, Psota has been an entrepreneur for nearly two decades, during which he sold his first company at age 18, launched multiple businesses, and most recently co-founded Panjiva in 2006 with CEO Josh Green. The patent-pending algorithms he developed crunch billions of messy data points from over 30 sources, including U.S. Customs and U.S. Census data, and present the information in an intuitive and easy-to-use way. Thousands of companies -- including many of the Fortune 500 and over a million users each month -- use Panjiva to determine with which overseas suppliers and manufacturers they should -- or perhaps more importantly, should not -- do business.
The Boston Business Journal's 40 Under 40 program, now in its 14th year, recognizes emerging business leaders in Greater Boston for their outstanding accomplishments in their professions and in the community. This year's honorees were chosen from a pool of over 500 nominees -- the largest in the program's history -- and come from a broad spectrum of the Boston business community. The honorees represent the business talent and civic commitment that help drive the regional economy. In addition to Psota, this year's honorees include leaders from Genzyme, WilmerHale, Bessemer Venture Partners, Deloitte and the City of Boston.

Psota is proud to be as accomplished an academic as he is an entrepreneur. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in large-scale parallel computer architectures and programming models in computer science at MIT, where he also earned his M.S. Psota also devotes much of his free time to supporting up-and-coming entrepreneurs. He not only serves as an angel investor to several local companies, but also recently joined -- along with Clayton Christensen and David Gergen, among other notable names -- the advisory board of Fidelis College, a for-profit online education startup backed by Accel Partners, Tim O'Reilly, Mitch Kapor, and other top investors, that helps active duty soldiers get a headstart on their college educations. Psota is working with the Fidelis team to develop their product and technology strategy, and helping to build their team.
