Statement by Parliament Secretary Findlay on CBSA "Wanted" List Apprehension
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/07/11 -- Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice, on behalf of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, made the following statement on the arrest of Satpal Singh Jhattu, the seventh individual on Canada Border Services Agency's "Wanted" list for criminality.
"I want to commend the efforts of Canada Border Services Agency and the public, whose tips led to the apprehension of this individual. The cooperation we receive from Canadians signals our collective commitment that Canada will not be home to those who try to enter or live here illegally, or who commit criminal acts and pose a threat to our citizens.
With this arrest, the Government of Canada continues to send a very clear message - that those who have serious criminal backgrounds and who enter this country under false pretenses will be found and prosecuted. We thank all citizens who help our law enforcement officials thwart those who choose to import crime to Canada."
Satpal Singh Jhattu is one of 32 individuals listed on the CBSA Wanted list for serious criminality.
