3M Coding Software Released With ICD-10 Readiness Tool
New Outsourced Coding Offering, 100 Computer-Assisted Coding Clients, and Performance Milestones Demonstrate 3M ICD-10 Leadership
(firmenpresse) - SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 10/05/11 -- 3M Health Information Systems announced today a new release of its market-leading , which offers a feature-rich ICD-10 Readiness Tool with complete ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding content. When coding with the ICD-10 code sets, all standard coding features are available, such as direct code entry and code retrieval from 3M's comprehensive coding references. Anatomy images are fully integrated within the coding workflow to promote coding accuracy.
A new ICD-10 translation window allows coders to complete ICD-9 to ICD-10 code translations. The software helps coders familiarize themselves with all possible ICD-10 equivalent codes and allows coders to select the appropriate ICD-10 code based on the patient record and physician documentation. Coders also can identify potential ICD-10 documentation insufficiencies while coding in ICD-9.
The enhanced ICD-10 Readiness Tool is available at no additional cost to 3M coding clients in the United States as part of the 3M coding solution's regular software upgrade, released September 29, 2011. The 3M Coding and Reimbursement System is the industry's leading encoding system, used in more than 5,000 healthcare settings worldwide by HIM departments to code and group patient data for decision support, quality measurement, and reimbursement.
3M has signed an agreement with , LLC, a leading provider of Business Process Solutions and Knowledge Process Outsourcing, to provide outsourced coding resources through SourceHOV's subsidiary LexiCode Corporation. 3M will offer SourceHOV's qualified, credentialed coding resources as part of its complete suite of ICD-10 products and services to help healthcare facilities maintain current coding workflow and reduce risk of backlogs during the ICD-10 transition.
The integrated outsourcing solution offering by 3M and SourceHOV is available immediately and is featured in both the SourceHOV and 3M booths at the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) 2011 Annual Convention, Oct. 2-6, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
More than100 healthcare sites have contracted for 3M computer-assisted coding (CAC) software to help prepare for ICD-10 and offset initial productivity losses that are anticipated with ICD-10 implementation. Twenty-four facilities are now live with 3M CAC technology, using it to streamline the inpatient and outpatient coding process. With the recent introduction of the , 3M is connecting and automating coding, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and performance monitoring in a single integrated workflow.
