Central Animal Hospital in Scarsdale Welcomes New Veterinarian
(firmenpresse) - SCARSDALE, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 10/05/11 -- Dr. Michael Woltz, a veterinarian and the director of Central Animal Hospital in Scarsdale, New York, welcomed a new veterinarian to their animal health care team. Dr. Donatella Hecht is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine and has more than a decade of experience working at veterinary hospitals in the Tri State area. Central Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary clinic providing , spay & neuter procedures, emergency care, , pet boarding and to the Westchester pet communities.

While Dr. Hecht spent 10 years acting in New York City, her natural love of animals led her to study . During her undergraduate studies at New York University, she volunteered for the group P.O.W.A.R.S., an organization that helps bed-ridden pet owners care for their animals.
"Through P.O.W.A.R.S., I adopted an older cat who was in need of regular injections to manage his kidney disease," said Dr. Hecht. "Caring for my cat Felix introduced me to the field of veterinary medicine and helped me realize how passionate I am about caring for animals."
Since receiving her degree, Dr. Hecht has worked at hospitals throughout the Tri State area, including the ASPCA in Manhattan and has appeared in several episodes of Animal Planet's Animal Precinct.
She is committed to helping all animals in need, including those in low-income communities. "Many pet owners want to give their pets the best care possible, but a lack of money or an awareness about important treatments can leave pets vulnerable to health problems," said Dr. Hecht.
That is one of the reasons that Dr. Hecht has volunteered on several missions to care for animals on Native American reservations. This includes Dr. Hecht's 2009 mission trip to the Hoopa Reservation in California, where she provided free spay & neuter operations and .
Born in Rome, Dr. Hecht lived in Europe until the age of 18, when she moved to New York City. She is fluent in Italian, French and Spanish, and is currently learning American Sign Language. She now calls home, living with her husband, two children and their pets: two cats, a guinea pig and a dog named Lola.
