Academy Award(R)-Nominated Writer James Toback Added as Executive Producer of "GOTTI: In The Shadow Of My Father"
Salvatore Carpanzano Also Named Exec Producer
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 09/23/11 -- Fiore Films, an independent production company, today announced that Academy Award®-nominated writer James Toback has been named executive producer of "GOTTI: In The Shadow Of My Father." Toback is also a co-writer of the script, along with Barry Levinson and Leo Rossi. Also added as executive producer is Salvatore Carpanzano, an international businessman who has been instrumental in putting together the financing for the film.
The film will be directed by Academy Award®-winning director Barry Levinson, with an all-star cast that includes John Travolta, Al Pacino, Chazz Palminteri, Ben Foster and Kelly Preston. Levinson and Toback are the same team that made "Bugsy," which earned ten Academy Award® nominations.
"I hope my two decade relationship with Barry Levinson will yield an array of benefits," said Toback. "I am also looking forward to an ongoing collaboration with Marc Fiore who has shown himself to be a vastly energetic and ambitious producer with a charming sense of bravado, which has, sadly, been rare on the scene in recent years."
Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker James Toback is a uniquely original creator. His work as writer and writer-director includes "The Gambler," "Fingers," "Bugsy," "Two Girls and A Guy," "Black & White" and "Tyson," which won a special prize at the Cannes Film Festival. His exceptional work with actors has resulted in career defining performances from Harvey Keitel, Robert Downey, Jr. and others.

Fiore Films acquired life rights from John Gotti, Jr., the son of the late mob boss John Gotti, to the story of his life with his father. The deal marks the first time a member of the Gotti family has entered into an agreement to tell their story for a major motion picture.
