Media Advisory: 6th Annual Freedom of Information Audit to Be Released by Newspapers Canada
(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/23/11 -- Newspapers Canada will release its 6th annual National Freedom of Information Audit and related material on September 27, 2011. The report launch coincides with Right to Know Week in Canada, September 26-30, 2011.
The annual Freedom of Information (FOI) Audit provides a unique opportunity to compare the performance of institutions across Canada. A team of auditors in each province requested the same information across all three levels of government, and have tabulated the scores of the various departments. The audit provides an accountability report card, revealing which government departments are lagging when it comes to being genuinely open and accountable to Canadians.
The 2011 audit includes a special supplementary report on Ontario's FOI regime.
Again this year, the FOI audit was done in collaboration with Fred Vallance-Jones, assistant professor of journalism at the University of King's College, and his team.
On Tuesday, September 27, the study will be posted on the Newspapers Canada website. To view the 2011 audit, as well as past audits, visit .
