The American Institute of Architects, California Council, Announces Mark Cavagnero Associates as the 2012 Firm Award Recipient
(firmenpresse) - SACRAMENTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/22/11 -- The American Institute of Architects, California Council (AIACC) announces Mark Cavagnero Associates of San Francisco as the 2012 AIACC Firm Award recipient. This annual award is the highest honor bestowed on an architectural firm by the AIACC, and recognizes firms who have consistently produced distinguished architecture for a period of at least 10 years.
Established in 1988, Mark Cavagnero Associates is known for the design of elegant, well-crafted civic and institutional buildings that elevate community identity. The high quality and subtle integration of the firm's work, which has received more than fifty local, state, and national design awards, has led to its being entrusted with the rehabilitation of a series of architectural landmarks. These include the California Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, the Oakland Museum of California (originally designed by Kevin Roche), the Marin Civic Center (by Frank Lloyd Wright), and the Graduate Theological Union Library in Berkeley (by Louis Kahn).
These sensitive additions to beloved buildings are characterized by clarity of form, durability of materials and construction, and expansiveness of light and volume. The same qualities distinguish the ground-up work of the firm, exemplified in the Trinity School Enrichment Center, Menlo Park; the Community School of Arts and Music, Mountain View; and San Francisco's Sava Pool, a joint venture with Paulett Taggart Architects.
