LIVESTRONG(R) Advocates for the World's Cancer Survivors in New York City During the UN General Assembly

Yesterday at the Columbia University World Leaders Forum, participated in a discussion about how to address the global cancer epidemic with Columbia professor, Wafaa El-Sadr, Dr. Paul Farmer of Partners in Health and Dr. Lawrence Shulman, Chief Medical Officer of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. CNN's Sanjay Gupta moderated the discussion before an audience of approximately 500 students and guests at Low Memorial Library on the Columbia campus. University President Lee C. Bollinger welcomed the audience and the Dean of the Mailman School of Public Health, Dr. Linda P. Fried, spoke to the crowd about the emerging global health challenge of non-communicable diseases, an issue of significant focus at this week's United Nations General Assembly.
On Mon., Sept. 19, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Dr. Thomas Farley, Commissioner, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, hosted special guests Lance Armstrong and Their Royal Highnesses of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Princess Ghida Talal and Princess Dina Mired, at an event for the global health community at Gracie Mansion.
