Opengear Supports OpenFlow/SDN Interoperability Lab at Indiana University
(firmenpresse) - SANDY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 09/20/11 -- Opengear (), provider of next generation , today demonstrated continued support of the OpenFlow standard by donating equipment to the OpenFlow SDN Interoperability Lab at Indiana University.
Opengear donated Opengear IM4216 advanced console servers, as well as Opengear IP-KVM1001 KVM over IP switches.
OpenFlow is an open standard that allows network professionals to easily deploy innovative routing and switching protocols in networks that include switches, routers, and Wi-Fi access points. Having gained industry-wide acceptance by companies including Deutsche Telekom, Facebook, Google, and Verizon, OpenFlow is used for applications such as virtual machine mobility, high-security networks, and next generation IP-based mobile networks.
Opengear donated equipment to Indiana University's SDN Interoperability Lab, a neutral, third-party facility that tests OpenFlow products in a heterogeneous, multi-vendor environment. The Lab is operated by InCNTRE (Indiana Center for Network Translation Research and Education), in collaboration with IU's Global Research Network Operations Center (GlobalNOC), and is located on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus.
"After working with Opengear at Interop Las Vegas, we knew their Advanced Console Servers and KVMs were ideal for Indiana University's new SDN/OpenFlow Interoperability Lab," said Ron Milford, manager of the lab and a network engineer in IU's GlobalNOC. "Opengear's generous equipment donation has been a significant help during the lab's development and we look forward to a continued partnership."
In addition to this donation to Indiana University's SDN Interoperability Lab, Opengear donated equipment to the OpenFlow Consortium booth at Interop Las Vegas this year. In this video, Jed Daniels, InteropNet OpenFlow Lab team lead, talks about OpenFlow and Opengear's donation:
