Byron Capital Markets Adds More Strength with Veteran Hires

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 09/19/11 -- Byron Capital Markets Ltd. today proudly announced the addition of three new members of its staff: Tom Astle, Doug Loe and Brad Elberg.

Tom Astle, a 20-year industry veteran, has joined the firm as Managing Director, Head of Research and will be based in the Toronto head office. "We are very excited to have one of the top ranked equity research analysts covering Technology join our team and manage our Equity Research department," said Byron's CEO, Campbell Becher. "Tom's expertise and experience in the Canadian, U.S. and European markets will provide further depth to our research and enhance our equity offering to institutional investors." Prior to joining Byron Capital Markets, Mr. Astle was Executive Vice President, Head of Research at Dundee Securities. He also served previously in senior positions in the Research departments with National Bank Financial and Merrill Lynch, where he covered the technology, renewable energy, communications and EMS sectors.

Doug Loe, Ph.D., MBA, has joined the firm as Global Healthcare and Biotechnology Analyst and will also be based in the Toronto head office. Mr. Loe joins Byron as one of Canada's top healthcare analysts over the past ten years with Versant Partners Inc. and Yorkton Securities Inc. (now Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd.). "We are delighted to welcome Doug to our equity research team." said Tom Astle. Brad Elberg will join the Byron team on October 3, 2011 as its Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Brad joins Byron Capital Markets after a successful career as a partner in the Bay Street, Toronto office of Heenan Blaikie LLP, a leading international law firm. In his practice, he developed a rich appreciation of law and business while advising and acting for a wide range of large and sophisticated clients in complex business, regulatory, and litigation matters.
