On the heels of the landmark in large part inspired by his documentary, , Stewart, a native who launched his much-acclaimed film at five years ago, is working closely with a group of lawmakers and conservationists to bring sharks into the forefront. The team has introduced legislation to ban the sale and possession of shark fins in and strives to make Canada a leader in the fight to save sharks. "With up to 73,000,000 sharks killed each year for their fins and some regional populations down by 98%, the '' campaign could not be any more timely," said Stewart.
More than just a movie, has become a movement rallying the world around unlikely, but charismatic species. resulted in massive change for sharks, brought an incredibly passionate team together, and inspired Stewart to create (UC), a revolutionary non-profit committed to inspiring and enabling the same types of successes on a much broader scale.
Stewart will be hosting a fundraiser, on September 14th at the legendary , to launch , in support of the campaign.
