SIU Investigating Collision in Niagara Region
(firmenpresse) - MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 08/30/11 -- Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is probing the circumstances surrounding the serious injuries sustained by a cyclist yesterday afternoon in Fort Erie.
On Monday August 29, 2011 at 3:40 p.m. the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) contacted the SIU and advised the following:
The SIU assigned four investigators, three forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist to investigate this incident. The police vehicle has been seized by the SIU and will undergo a safety inspection.
One officer has been designated as a subject officer and three officers have been designated as witness officers. Three civilian witnesses have been identified.
The SIU is interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the area yesterday and witnessed the collision. They are asked to contact the Unit at 416-622-1886 or 1-800-787-8529 extension 1886.
The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must
