Company Continues Growth Trend; Names Fred Johannessen, Formerly of BMC Software, VP of Business Development to Extend Partnerships

(firmenpresse) - RESTON, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/30/11 -- IT operations and software provider ScienceLogic™ Inc. reported that its long-running growth trend continued during the first half of 2011, as orders grew 41 percent year over year. In addition, to meet industry demand and spur continued expansion, the company has named former BMC Software executive Fred Johannessen vice president of business development.

The first-half success stems from a series of new-client deployments as well as existing customers upgrading to the latest version of the company's platform, ScienceLogic EM7. More than 30 percent of first-half growth came from new customers, including managed cloud computing provider Logicworks. In fact, more than half of all sales came from service providers. Enterprises and government organizations comprise the rest of the ScienceLogic customer base.

"New ScienceLogic customers this year are at various stages of virtualization and cloud computing deployments, but they all have one thing in common: They see the value of having a unified IT operations platform that will help them manage their collective IT resources now and in the future, for better support of business goals," said Scott Sherwood, senior vice president of sales for ScienceLogic. "ScienceLogic is building a firm foundation for future growth with continued product innovation, outstanding customer support, and the hiring of experienced, dedicated professionals like Fred Johannessen, who will help us build the ecosystem of partners we need to support customer requirements across the globe."

Johannessen joins ScienceLogic after 15 years with BMC. With more than 25 years of software experience, he will be responsible for building and extending all strategic and technology alliances for ScienceLogic as well as spearheading the global reseller channel. He is the latest in a series of executive hires made by ScienceLogic, including the recently announced Scott Sherwood as senior vice president of sales and Steve Harriman as senior vice president of marketing.

Johannessen filled a variety of roles at BMC, including leading development, marketing and strategy teams, and most recently business development. While there, he managed BMC's inbound ecosystem of partners, including ISVs, its Technology Alliance Program (TAP) and MarketZone program. He also helped build the BMC Communities to a collection of more than 40,000 users. Additionally, he has a patent pending related to predictive resource scheduling. Johannessen holds a degree in mathematics and computer science from the University of Washington.

"Cloud computing is causing disruption in data centers around the world, giving ScienceLogic an unprecedented opportunity to change the game of IT management with its ability to discover and manage all IT elements -- from physical to virtual to cloud -- and all from a scalable, easy to install platform," said Johannessen. "This is going to require new types of alliances that cross multiple technology areas and new go-to-market strategies. I'm honored to join a world-class team to not just leverage the new market dynamics but to drive a new approach to IT operations and cloud management with ScienceLogic."

ScienceLogic EM7 simplifies the exponentially harder task of managing resources and data that are constantly shifting due to technologies such as virtualization and cloud computing. Using EM7 for IT operations and , organizations can manage any mix of physical, virtual and cloud resources as one entity to improve business service delivery to end-users. Having a consistent, correlated set of metrics across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures speeds troubleshooting, simplifies and optimizes management workflows, and minimizes integration work to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

The ScienceLogic EM7 platform supports multiple vendors and platforms out of the box, and enables customers to collect data on and manage virtually any off-the-shelf or custom-built application, component, or service in an evolving IT infrastructure. Engineered for the scale, security, automation and high availability needed to run today's complex IT environments, the unified EM7 platform is a direct alternative to implementing disparate IT management tools from multiple vendors or retrofitting a traditional, monolithic management framework into a 21st century environment.

ScienceLogic EM7 technology earned the company a spot on one of Gartner's annual lists of "Cool Vendors" in IT operations. In addition, ScienceLogic has been named to both the Deloitte 500 and Inc. 500 lists of fastest growing private companies. Other recent distinctions include:
