Minister Raitt Congratulates the Saint John Airport and the Public Service Alliance of Canada on New Agreement
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 08/25/11 -- The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Labour, today congratulated the Saint John Airport and the Public Service Alliance of Canada's (PSAC) Union of Canadian Transportation Employees Local 60615, on successfully reaching a new collective agreement.
"I commend both the Saint John Airport and the PSAC for working together to reach a collective agreement," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit the economic prosperity and security of Canadians."
The previous collective agreement, covering a unit of approximately 30 firefighters and maintenance, mechanical and snow removal personnel, expired on December 31, 2008. The dispute was settled with the assistance of mediators from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code. Mediation aims to achieve a collective agreement and avoid work stoppages.
