Baltimore-Area Company Encourages Employee Charity Involvement Each Month

(firmenpresse) - MILLERSVILLE, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 08/23/11 -- In July, employees of (TAN), a wholesale vacation accommodations program, raised $1,180 in support of the Alzheimer's Association July's efforts as part of TAN's philanthropic tradition. Every month, a TAN employee chooses a charity to support, and rallies the rest of the company to raise funds for the cause.

Nikia Richmond, a Recruiter in Travel Advantage Network's Human Resources Department, championed the month-long fund-raiser. Employees supported the cause by participating in two pay-to-wear-jeans days, 50/50 raffle, cupcake sale, silent auction, and an Alzheimer's "Reason to Hope" bracelet sale -- with all proceeds going to the charity.

Richmond selected to support this charity because of her familiarity with Alzheimer's, her mother passed away from the disease. "As my mother's health declined, I began to research more and more on the disease, what to expect, and what options we had," stated Richmond. Currently there is no cure for the disease, but the money raised by TAN's employees has gone directly toward the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research. Richmond's advocacy doesn't end here; she will be participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's event this fall.
