(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 08/21/11 -- August 19, 20 and 21, Parks Canada is celebrating Canada's "Fab Forts" Weekend across the country as part of its centennial celebrations. Canada's 'Fab Forts' Weekend will take place in more than 30 forts across the country, and when the clock strikes 2:30 p.m., will be marked by a coast-to-coast 100 gun salute.

BACKGROUNDER
FAB FORTS WEEKEND LOCATIONS AND ACTIVITIES
On August 19-21, the Fab Forts Weekend will celebrate historic forts all across the country. The highlight of the weekend will be a coast-to-coast 100-gun salute, employing historic artillery, beginning at Signal Hill, Newfoundland, and ending at Fort Rodd Hill, British Columbia. At 2:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, August 21, up to 20 of Canada's national historic sites will be firing a total of 100 shots to commemorate Parks Canada's centennial. The list below describes other activities planned across the country during the weekend:
