Howarth has spent over eight years in the Atlanta technology industry in a variety of roles. From 2003 to 2008, he served as Editor of TechLINKS, a well-known business magazine focusing on the Georgia technology industry. In 2005, he founded the Atlanta Media Bloggers Group, which later became the force behind the annual SoCon conference held annually at Kennesaw State University.
