IP Rating and Sunlight Visible LEDs Ideal for Extreme Weather Conditions

Designed for use in harsh conditions such as extreme weather and moisture, the new family of products is ideally suited for applications that require outdoor LED indication -- including hazardous areas and high-vibration environments such as industrial automation systems, power supplies, instrumentation and control panels. Because the assemblies are extraordinarily bright, they are also well-suited for use in sunlit areas.

Defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), an IP rating is used to specify the environmental protection of enclosures around electronic equipment. It classifies the degree of protection against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact and water. An IP rating consists of two numbers: the first referring to protection against solid objects, the second against liquids. Bivar's Weather Resistant LED Panel Mount Assemblies feature a 67/68 IP rating, and are totally protected against dust and immersion up to 1m.
