The Alternative to Hospital Mental Health Care
(firmenpresse) - SANTA CRUZ, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/10/11 -- Rebecca A. Powers, MD, MPH, is pleased to announce the opening of Mountain Oak Comprehensive Care (MOCC), PC, on September 1st, 2011. Dr. Powers is the Medical Director and President of this new facility and is a well-known practitioner in the field of mental health care.
MOCC is a sub-acute Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) for adult women, located in a peaceful residential setting. This service is for patients suffering from an Axis 1 DSM diagnosis and in need of intensive psychiatric care, which is currently available only in a traditional hospital setting. This is a voluntary 24 hour program, with average stays of 21 days in this six bed facility. Patients will be provided with intensive support and rehabilitative services in a private, comfortable home which is licensed by the Department of Mental Health. The usual patient will be one that needs more than an outpatient setting has been providing, or one that has just been discharged from the hospital, but needs more treatment before going back home.
While the therapies included are structured on a daily basis by a full complement of both mental and medical health professionals, with round-the-clock care, the per diem cost is 40% less than that of a hospital and services are covered by most health insurance plans. Private pay patients are also welcome at an even more reduced rate.
MOCC's mission is to treat patients in a holistic manner and treat each person as a unique individual. This is accomplished by attending to every aspect of the person as a whole, rather than just a compilation of symptoms that create a diagnosis. Dr. Powers states that "The goal is to get the patient well and keep them well." Dr. Powers envisions facilities throughout Northern California to accommodate the demand for more appropriate mental health care outside of an acute psychiatric hospital.
An open house for mental health professionals and other interested parties will be held Wednesday, August 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, August 26th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The facility is located at 9 Marea Avenue #C, La Selva Beach, CA 95076.
