TalkPoint Participates in the Nautica New York City Triathlon to Support Leukemia & Lymphoma's Team In Training
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 08/09/11 -- TalkPoint, the leader in global communications technology, specializing in browser-based audio and video webcasting, participated in Sunday's Nautica New York City Triathlon to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. TalkPoint's relay team, consisting of CEO Nick Balletta, along with Dan Roche and Travis Codde, successfully completed the 40k bike ride, 10k run and 1500m swim, respectively.
Team TalkPoint joined more than 3,000 athletes in the Olympic distance race as members of LLS's Team In Training to honor a friend's wife who is currently battling blood cancer.
"With the support of corporate teams like TalkPoint, 475 Team In Training participants raised more than $1.4 million for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the NYC Triathlon," commented Veronica Perez, Senior Campaign Director for Team In Training. "The money will help fund life saving cancer research and patient services."
This isn't the first time TalkPoint has supported LLS. Last year, after attending the Jarden Westchester Triathlon as a spectator, Balletta was impressed with the athletes from LLS's Team In Training, so he researched the group online and joined the very next day. On May 31, Balletta participated in the St. Anthony's Triathlon in St. Petersburg, FL. as a member of Team In Training.
"It was a clear to me that becoming a member of Team In Training was a great opportunity to arrange a customized training program and support cancer research," said Nick Balletta, CEO of TalkPoint. Since this time, TalkPoint has further extended its support of LLS and will be participating in the Light the Night Walk on October 5.
