Weatherhaven Applauds Canadian Government Initiatives to Foster Improved Trade Relations With Brazil
(firmenpresse) - SAO PAOLO, BRAZIL -- (Marketwire) -- 08/09/11 -- Burnaby, BC based Weatherhaven, one of the world's leading providers of re-deployable shelter systems, applauds the package of Canadian Government initiatives, announced today by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Sao Paolo, to foster trade relations with Brazil.
"As a Canadian company, with significant business interests in the Brazilian market, we appreciate our government's efforts to broaden and deepen our economic relationship with Brazil, the seventh largest economy and one of the most exciting growth markets in the world," said Ray Castelli, Chief Executive Officer of Weatherhaven.
The package of initiatives, announced by Prime Minister Harper during his 2-day visit to Brazil, includes the establishment of a Canada-Brazil CEO Forum to identify specific economic opportunities and policy changes, as well as the signing of several Canada-Brazil agreements aimed at improving trade and development in key areas such as technology, foreign aid and Olympics cooperation.
Weatherhaven is honoured to have been invited to participate as part of the Prime Minister's trade mission to Brazil. These initiatives will help open doors which will lead to a direct impact on business and jobs in Canada. In the areas of peacekeeping and disaster relief, one of Weatherhaven's core businesses, Canada has developed significant technology and solutions that could benefit the Brazilian government as it looks to increase its capability both inside Brazil and around the world. For example, Weatherhaven Brazil provided temporary camps to the Brazilian peacekeeping efforts following the Haiti earthquake.
Weatherhaven has been active in Brazil for more than 10 years, and has recently enjoyed significant growth in supplying the natural resource exploration and infrastructure development market, as well as military and civil mobile hospital programs. Added Mr. Castelli, "What was accomplished in the past two days in Brazil is exactly what the government should be doing - helping to open doors and lower barriers so companies like ours can do more business. This should have a beneficial impact on our business and our employees in British Columbia and in our Brazilian operations in Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro and Taubate."
Weatherhaven is a leading provider of re-deployable shelters, camp and systems for remote sites around the world. Founded in Vancouver 30 years ago, the company engineers, manufactures and installs temporary camps and shelter systems for a wide variety of commercial, military, medical and disaster relief applications. Weatherhaven has production capability in Canada, Peru, South Africa, and Brazil, in addition to sales/logistics operations in Europe, Australia and Barbados. The company has grown from being a dominant Canadian domestic supplier to providing shelter systems and installations on all seven continents, including more than 20 military customers as well as commercial deployments in more than 50 countries.
