Waterfront Mercer Island Mansion to Be Offered at Real Estate Auction

David Sandwith, who began building the home in 2004, dedicated his attention to every level of detail while the house was being completed, he said. The home was built not only for David and his wife, but for their growing family and all their friends.
"We didn't want to have a home so formal that you couldn't feel comfortable in it," Sandwith said. "We wanted to build a home that was family friendly. We covered every level of detail and quality; it's easy to see the value in the home, but it's still a very livable home with inviting space."
The home features a kitchen with three sink stations, two Sub-Zero refrigerators, three ovens, commercial venting and three dishwashers. The home also consists of a "Children's Wing," library, wine cellar, home theater and an owner's suite.
Mercer Island Mansion's exterior is equally as spectacular as its interior with a three-level terrace that overlooks Lake Washington. The resort-style pool has nine water fountains and a hidden TV lift for a 152-inch screen.
Sandwith listed his home with a traditional real estate broker for six months before realizing an auction would be the most effective way to market and sell his property.
"Most luxury items -- whether it's a home, car or antique -- are sold at an auction," he said. "We felt the best way to market the house and maximize what the home brings is through an auction."
The auction will take place on Tuesday, August 30 at the home, located at 4137 Boulevard Place, Mercer Island, Wash. A J. P.
