And since people's friends often have similar tastes, Itemize makes it easy to share deals and offers via Facebook.

The key driver behind Itemize is deal fatigue -- so many sale emails are flooding people's inboxes that it's impossible for shoppers to keep up. Itemize solves this problem by gathering thousands of deals and offers in one place, and selecting just the few that actually matter for each individual user. The Itemize team curates the sales and offers to ensure quality. "Our goal is to make it easier for shoppers to select from offers that are personally relevant, not spend their time sorting through deal spam," says CEO Jim Thomas.

What makes Itemize unique is its groundbreaking technology. The app is able to analyze detailed receipt information automatically, and use that data to build the selection algorithms. Because people's tastes change over time, the application learns and adapts. As a byproduct of the process, the service also organizes each user's detailed e-commerce receipts in one convenient location for easy reference.

The company was founded in 2010 by two friends with a shared vision for simplifying online shopping for consumers. CEO Jim Thomas was formerly the Senior Vice President of purchase information analytics at MasterCard.
