'Wicked' Reclaims Top Spot in TicketNews' July Events Rankings
(firmenpresse) - VERNON, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 08/04/11 -- After finishing out of No.1 for three consecutive months, the long-running hit musical "Wicked" reclaimed the top on TicketNews' exclusive events rankings for July 2011, compiled from July 1-31.
Although no stranger to the top of the rankings, "Wicked" is the fourth event to fill the No. 1 slot in as many months. Previously the Top Event for June, stayed strong in July with a fourth-place finish. Sir Paul played concerts in the Bronx, Detroit, Montreal and Chicago during the past month. His North American itinerary concludes August 4.
Sade's joint tour with John Legend has quietly moved up the rankings over the past few months, finishing July in fifth. The soulful duo has concerts scheduled throughout August, including 10 shows in California. The tour ends September 3 in Las Vegas.
Adele was forced to postpone early summer concerts due to a bout with laryngitis, but she quickly . Fresh ticket sales for the rebooked dates helped the British songbird finish at No. 13 in the July rankings. The rescheduled tour begins August 9 at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver.
The , allowing both preseason and regular season game schedules to run uninterrupted. With the preseason beginning in August, expect top NFL teams to find their way into TicketNews' next rankings report.
European soccer club Manchester United finished July with an impressive No. 6 ranking, but should fall hard out of the rankings in August after closing their U.S. tour on July 30.
