Present Japan Energy Confusion Could Continue for Next Five Years, an Industrial Info News Alert
(firmenpresse) - KOFU-SHI, JAPAN -- (Marketwire) -- 08/01/11 -- Researched by Industrial Info Resources East Asia (Kofu-shi, Japan) -- Currently, more than two-thirds of Japan's nuclear capacity is down, primarily because of the earthquake and tsunami, or scheduled maintenance. Those reactors downed for maintenance have not been allowed to restart or have not sought final restart approval, due to negative public opinion awakened by the accident at Fukushima Daiichi. Three more reactors are scheduled to power down for maintenance this month, bringing the total of Japan's simultaneously offline nuclear reactors to 41.
The government has implemented stress tests that are designed to assess the safety of individual reactors and the nuclear industry as a whole, but no time limits have been placed on the tests yet. Recent mild weather has kept power shortages at bay as power generation companies such as (TYO:9501) (TEPCO) (Tokyo) and (TYO:9506) (Tokuden) (Sendai, Japan), the most-affected companies, boost electrical capacities.
