SIU Continues Toronto Firearm Death Investigation
(firmenpresse) - MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/31/11 -- Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the firearm death of a man yesterday evening in Toronto.
The deceased 30-year-old man from Scarborough has been positively identified, but his name is being withheld pending confirmation of notification of next of kin. A post mortem is scheduled for tomorrow morning in Toronto.
The 21-year-old female from Pickering underwent surgery early today. She remains in hospital in critical, but stable condition.
The 18-year-old man from Scarborough was treated in hospital early this morning and was scheduled to be released later today.
The SIU has designated two officers as subject officers.
At this point the SIU has identified sixteen civilian witnesses. Interviews with these witnesses are ongoing.
Investigators believe there are more witnesses and would ask anyone who may have any information including still pictures, video or audio-video recordings relating to this case to contact the Unit at 416-622-1806 or 1-800-787-8529 extension #1806.
The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault. Under the Police Services Act, the Director of the SIU must
