Yellow Pages Group Applauds the Canadian Competition Bureau Actions to Stop Directory Scam
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 07/29/11 -- Yellow Pages Group (YPG) applauds the legal action recently undertaken by the Canadian Competition Bureau to bring an end to business directory advertising scams and to pursue the organizations which perpetrate these activities.
The agency has announced that it is currently seeking an injunction against individuals and companies using deceptive fax solicitations and misleading information to sell directory listings and advertising to online directories under the guise of Yellow Pages Group.
"These fraudulent solicitations are victimizing thousands of Canadian businesses by selling them advertising listings in directories that have little value or that are non-existent through false representation and by taking advantage of the reputation of trust and reliability associated with the Yellow Pages brand," said Francois Ramsay, Senior Vice President and General Counsel and Secretary of Yellow Pages Group. "We are encouraged by the actions of the Competition Bureau to put an end to these practices and to continue to protect the interests of Canadian businesses."
