Minister Jason Kenney Travels to New Zealand and Thailand
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/29/11 -- Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney left today for an official visit to New Zealand and Thailand.
Minister Kenney is travelling to New Zealand as part of a bilateral fellowship program agreed to between Prime Minister Stephen Harper and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key that aims to facilitate exchanges of political, business and academic figures between the two countries.
The Minister will meet with New Zealand's Prime Minister Key and members of his Cabinet to discuss shared issues relating to human smuggling and refugees.
The Minister will then make his way to Thailand to meet with key officials to have further discussions on human smuggling and refugees.
"The issue of human smuggling requires a global effort and international partnerships are key to our collective success," said Minister Kenney. "I look forward to continuing to work with the governments of New Zealand and Thailand to try to find common solutions to our common challenges."
