Monica Holloway to Celebrate Camp Opening With 200 Disabled Children

(firmenpresse) - SHERMAN OAKS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/28/11 -- Acclaimed author and Sherman Oaks resident Monica Holloway, 48, will attend the kick-off for the 2nd Annual Camp JPAC, the only summer camp in Los Angeles for special needs children and their siblings, on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 8:30am at the Junior Blind of America, 5300 Angeles Vista Blvd. in Los Angeles. A highlight of the camp's kick-off will include the release of 200 butterflies into the air, representing the 200 disabled children and teens participating in the unique program.

Holloway, who has shared her autism experiences in a memoir titled , will celebrate the kick-off for the camp alongside Areva Martin, co-founder of Special Needs Network, author of , and Managing Partner for Martin & Martin, LLP. Martin started the camp after the Los Angeles Unified School District eliminated many of its traditional summer programs for disabled youth.

Holloway received the Woman of Distinction award from Special Needs Network this year, for her work in educating the Los Angeles community on autism.
