ID: 1025116

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/27/11 -- The Canadian public's tips and information have led to the capture of a fourth individual suspected of being complicit in war crimes or crimes against humanity. This update follows the announcement on July 21, 2011 where the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety and the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, asked Canadians to help in identifying 30 individuals suspected of being complicit in war crimes or crimes against humanity, and who are thought to be hiding out in locations across Canada

Henry Pantoja Carbonel from Peru, one of the individuals named on the CBSA web site, was found in the Greater Toronto Area and is now in CBSA custody.

"Canadians are stepping up and providing valuable help to the Canada Border Services Agency," said Public Safety Minister Vic Toews. "Canada will not be a haven for those who have been involved in war crimes or crimes against humanity. With the help of citizens, the suspects are being located and they will face the consequences," concluded Minister Toews.

"Our priority is to prevent individuals who pose a safety or security concern from entering Canada in the first place, said Minister Kenney. "The ability to detain and remove people is vital to protecting the safety and security of the Canadian public and to maintaining the integrity of our immigration program."

The Government of Canada is grateful for the assistance the public is providing and ask that they continue to look at the for updates. Members of the public are reminded that they should not take action to apprehend the individuals listed on the website. Any information on the whereabouts of these wanted individuals should be reported to the CBSA Border Watch Line at 1-888-502-9060.
