(PresseBox) - Abstract: ?Adaptronics and intelligent systems in general, are increasingly instrumental in driving innovation into products. The successful engineering of such intelligent products challenges current development processes, and drives for the adoption of a design approach where mechanical and controls engineering are interlocked throughout the design process, and where design synthesis, verification and validation can maximally be frontloaded. Stepping up the ability for systems engineering, and with this, transforming engineering processes to adopt the approach of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), is becoming increasingly critical for successful design.
The presentation reviews the principals of MBSE, with a focus on how MBSE enables frontloading of adaptive systems, based on system synthesis and mechatronic system architecture optimization prior to detailed design and development. Simulation technologies and methods to support such application of MBSE are summarized, including the challenges to adopt the application in industrial context, and illustration of industrial application in automotive industry.?.
