First German, Spanish and Swedish hospitals win EMRAM awards at eHealth Week
Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (DE), Kronoberg Hospital (SE), Hospital de Denia - Marina Salud (E) and Hospital Municipal de Badalona (E) honored as European best practices in implementation of the Electronic Medical Record
(firmenpresse) - BUDAPEST, HU - (HealthTech Wire / News) - Last night at the HIMSS Analytics Europe Awards Ceremony at eHealth Week in Budapest - one German, two Spanish and one Swedish hospital won the HIMSS Analytics Europe Stage 6 Award. Besides Germany, Spain and Sweden, HIMSS Analytics Europe has been conducting hospital surveys in 13 European countries, such as France, Denmark and Italy.
"The implementation of an electronic medical record at UKE is a good basis for establishing and expanding of telemedical offers. Being awarded Stage 6 is likewise a very important acknowledgement and motivation to take implementation to the next level"; said Dr. Peter Gocke, CIO at University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf.
Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany), Hospital de Denia - Marina Salud (Spain), Hospital Municipal de Badalona (Spain) and Kronoberg Hospital (Sweden), each won the Stage 6 Award for reaching an advanced stage of implementing electronic medical records. This achievement ranks them amongst the most advanced in Europe for adopting IT applications - only three other hospitals have so far been awarded Stage 6, the second highest award - University Hospitals of Geneva (CH), Odense University Hospital (DK) and ISMETT Hospital in Palermo (I).
"For the last two years we have been working really hard, so the award is very important recognition to our efforts. The electronic medical record has changed the national health systems, it is a very good alternative to the old systems", said Dr. Ángel Giménez Sierra, General Manager of Hospital de Denia - Marina Salud. "We could have only achieved this with the strong support and enthusiasm of all employees", added Olga Maria Àngels Cabezasat, Manager at Barcelona Serveis Assistencials.
With the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) HIMSS Analytics Europe scores hospitals in eight stages (0-7) of adopting electronic medical records, using a methodology developed by HIMSS Analytics Europe based on the HIMSS US EMR Adoption Model.
"Benchmarking is a very powerful tool for us. The EMRAM is a very good start for doing this and we"re now working to achieve Stage 7", quoted Göran Hernell, IT Director at the County Council Kronoberg.
The awards ceremony took place as part of the LHIT (Leaders in Health IT Symposium), which is run in parallel with the European Commission's High Level Ministerial eHealth Conference and The World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition by HIMSS Europe at eHealth Week in Budapest.
