e-Spirit Integrates FirstSpirit into Liferay Portal
Modern Enterprise 2.0 portal by integrating FirstSpirit in leading open source portal
(firmenpresse) - Dortmund, March 1, 2011. e-Spirit AG (www.e-Spirit.com) is adding an open source portal to their range of possibilities for seamless integration of the FirstSpirit content management system into leading enterprise portals. At CeBIT 2011, the company is presenting "Liferay Portal Integration" for FirstSpirit. The module was developed in cooperation with e-Spirit"s technology partner USU. Integrating FirstSpirit in Liferay will allow organizations to create state-of-the-art employee portals that combine Enterprise 2.0 functionality, IT applications, content and collaboration. Employees and editors can work conveniently on a centralized CMS interface that stands out with its high usability. Organizations will also enjoy the benefits of innovative intranet presentations, providing their employees with easy access to Web 2.0 functions such as forums, blogs and wikis and offering them a platform to efficiently organize collaboration and share information and insights beyond individual departments. The new module will be available from May. Trelleborg Sealing Solutions GmbH is the first licensed customer.
A single platform for tapping into the potential of all portals
Liferay Portal is the leading open source portal and has been dubbed a "Leader" in horizontal enterprise portals by the Gartner Magic Quadrant. As an enterprise open source solution, Liferay allows companies to realize significant cost benefits while using its extensive out-of-the-box features, and at the same time enjoy professional support, software maintenance and warranty agreements. The integrated solution of USU and e-Spirit unites the powerful FirstSpirit CMS range of functions with the comprehensive Liferay portal and Enterprise 2.0 features, providing the portal server infrastructure and including solutions in web publishing, collaboration and knowledge management. Although Liferay includes basic content management capabilities, these functions are of limited use for complex projects with advanced scenarios such as extensive content or workflow structures, multilingual content and multiple publishing channels. FirstSpirit is now closing this gap. Using the CMS allows for the optimal support of very different output channels, including the Liferay portal. The content editor is presented with a centralized, highly usable CMS platform in which all content can be created, maintained, and published in a personalized form. The result is a professional content management tool combined with the advantages of the Liferay portal.
Flawless integration into the portal server
The seamless connection of FirstSpirit and Liferay allows editorial content from the CMS to be flawlessly integrated into the portal server. This means that native, portal server-specific mechanisms are used to reproduce content and navigation elements in the current look and feel of the portal. The CMS handles layout design, its powerful template engine ensuring full conformity with the Liferay portal, without the editor having to worry about compatibility. This means the editor does not need to have any knowledge of Liferay to edit or publish content and integrate it into the portal navigation. FirstSpirit also supports the user, rights and role management of Liferay by applying the existing authorization structure. This allows for complete authorization control for content to take place within the CMS. Administrative activity on the portal are no longer required for authorization management. "The close integration of the Liferay portal and FirstSpirit CMS allows companies to benefit from a much more efficient editing process. At the same time, organizations have the opportunity to take advantage of all innovative information-related and collaboration capabilities of Liferay as an enterprise 2.0 portal," explained Andreas Firnau, Senior Product Manager at USU AG.
