Electric mobility trend throughout Europe
(firmenpresse) - www.cleanvehicle.eu: The 'Clean Vehicle Portal' enables a direct environmental comparison to be made between electrically powered vehicles and conventional vehicle technologies.
HANNOVER / BRUSSELS (bc). It is not without good reason that electric mobility is believed to be the vehicle technology of the future: with a far superior efficiency rate of 90 percent, as compared to the classic combustion engine, electric engines also display a better environmental performance.
And when run on renewable fuels, they are actually completely carbon neutral. From January 2011, electrically powered vehicles will be available on www.cleanvehicle.eu; the new Europe-wide, online portal to support more environmentally friendly vehicle technologies. In this way, prospective vehicle buyers - whether purchasing for commercial, public or private use - can directly and transparently compare the environmental credentials of electrically operated vehicles with those of conventional technologies.
The 'Clean Vehicle Portal' is a European Commission project and is operated by TÜV NORD. The TÜV NORD Group is particularly committed to the field of electric mobility and has worked intensively with the German Federal Association of Solar Mobility to create the database of electrically operated vehicles for the portal.
Within the database, around 30 current electric cars are listed and compared. The costing comparison provided in www.cleanvehicle.eu is particularly objective: based on the European Directive for Environmentally Friendly Vehicles (Directive 2009/33/EC), the online calculator compares only the actual environmental costs of the vehicles in terms of amount and details. The portal was publicly presented in Brussels on 3rd December upon the implementation of the Directive.
TÜV NORD's Matthias Gleichmann, who, as Project Manager, is responsible for the implementation and future development of the portal, states: "Even in the beta phase, the assimilation of electric vehicles was already a frequently voiced wish of portal visitors and users." Gleichmann views the growing interest as "a clear sign of an electric mobility trend."
Alongside the environmental ranking, the 'Clean Vehicle Portal' presents a comprehensive collection of relevant information on vehicle procurement from all 27 EU-countries. Registered users can also sort and file their own research in a password-protected area, while exchanging ideas with other users on particular questions of environmentally friendly vehicle procurement. The EU Directive as the technical basis for www.cleanvehicle.eu has the aim of promoting the procurement and use of cleaner and more energy efficient road vehicles throughout Europe. The 'Clean Vehicle Portal' is part of the EU programme "Intelligent Energy Europe" (IEE), which promotes cross-border measures to conserve energy and introduce renewable energies.
