Lenovo celebrates five years of partnership with the Women's Forum

Reaffirms commitment to diversity at work as Official Technology Partner for the Women's Forum Global Meeting 2010

(PresseBox) - Lenovo (HKSE: 0992) (ADR: LNVGY), the world's fourth largest manufacturer of personal computers, is partnering with the Women's Forum Global Meeting for the fifth year in succession. The meeting will take place 14th-16th October 2010, in Deauville, France.
As the Official Technology Partner, Lenovo is providing 50 laptop computers for the registrations service, the partners' lounge, the Digital Coaching Corner (Wi-Fi café), the pressroom and back office management. Participants in the Women's Forum will have a chance to try out the very latest laptops from the popular ThinkPad range.
With this new range, Lenovo continues to innovate with increasingly powerful and lightweight products. Available in glossy red or black, the ThinkPad Edge 11''1 adds bold styling to its list of features, making it the ideal tool for any businesswoman.
The theme of the 2010 event is "Change: Make it happen", with a programme focusing on five avenues for change: change in politics, change in the economy, change in the environment, change in public health and change through diversity.
The Women's Forum Global Meeting focuses on women's contribution to the economy and society, and is now a regular event for Lenovo. Senior female executives from Lenovo, including Gina Qiao Jian, Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy for Lenovo Group and Yolanda Conyers, Vice President - People and Organizational Capability, Lenovo Group will be present over the three days of the meeting and will lead discussions.
Diversity is in Lenovo's DNA
One of the most significant effects of diversity (cultural or gender) is that the very differences fuel creativity and innovation. It is vitally important for any company to attract and retain female talent, particularly in the IT world where women are scarcer than in other fields. Lenovo's diversity policy aims to create an environment offering equal opportunities to all its employees, women as well as men.

We strongly believe in the benefits of culture and gender diversity," said Gina Qiao Jian. "Diversity is an integral part of our DNA; it is, and will continue to be, one of the key factors in our success in the long term."
Diversity and profitability go hand-in-hand
Profitability being a core driver of almost every business, Lenovo is sponsoring the workshop - "Nurturing profitable diversity[1]", which will be co-moderated by Yolanda Conyers. Yolanda will share her experience with workshop participants and guide their thinking.
"Lenovo has been working hard for many years to introduce global and local initiatives to promote the emergence of talent and to make it easier for women to pursue their career. This is one of the key policies that have helped us to succeed and to expand our position on the market," says Yolanda Conyers, Vice President - People and Organizational Capability, Lenovo Group.
Lenovo is also continuing its partnership with the Diversity Club for Business, founded in 2009 by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The aim of the Club is to demonstrate the importance of diversity as a value in itself and as a competitive advantage in business. Previously, BCG and other club members, including Lenovo, have forecast the possible future of women in work twenty years from now. These discussions threw up a number of different scenarios, three of which will be presented at the Women's Forum Global Meeting.
The WILL programme (Women In Lenovo Leadership)
In 2007, Lenovo launched the WILL programme to promote discussion and promote career development for women in the company. Catherine Ladousse, Executive Director Corporate Marketing and Communications for Western Europe adds: "From the moment Lenovo came into existence, we were quick to introduce a range of career management initiatives for women; based on our conviction of the strategic role diversity plays in our sector. The programme not only includes initiatives for women to better manage their careers, but also HR processes to promote women within our management team."
