GEA PHE Systems receives refinery order
GEA PHE Systems, part of the GEA Heat Exchangers Segment, received an order for a South American grassroots refinery project. The multimillion Euro order covers design and manufacturing of GEABloc welded plate heat exchangers.
(firmenpresse) - The new refinery will process local crude oil to supply the domestic market with high quality diesel and naphtha for petrochemical conversion. GEA´s plate heat exchangers are located in the desalting process of the atmospheric distillation unit. Removing inorganic salts, suspended solids, and water-soluble trace metals from the crude oil this process unit protects the complex refinery equipment from corrosion, fouling, and poisoning of the catalysts. Because of the corrosiveness the material selection was given special attention. All units are now equipped with special stainless steel grades.
GEA PHE Systems convinced the customer with its GEABloc plate heat exchanger solution. This heat exchanger type offers superior corrosion and fouling properties. The ability to easily open and clean the GEABloc in case of fouling was the cherry on the cake to place the order with GEA PHE Systems. Start-up of the refinery is expected to be in late 2012.
“It is the next order in the refinery business and proves the strength of our competence in welded plate heat exchangers” says Klaus Peter Glöckner, President of GEA PHE Systems.
