Hambach Castle is now an information and event Mecca thanks to a clever acoustic solution
The building known as the birthplace of German democracy has been undergoing continuous renovation and revamping in several construction stages since 2002.
The modernisation of the ceiling areas had a special significance as the room geometries and inner wall surfaces could not be changed because of design aspects. This meant that only the ceiling surfaces could be visually and acoustically upgraded.
(firmenpresse) - The company Lahnau Akustik GmbH offered planners and expert engineers the best solution for this special task.
Around 750 square meters of the jointless ceiling system Alvaro glass - made of expanded recycling glass granulate - was installed in the large ballroom and the foyer of the castle.
It was a particular advantage for the large area installation in the ballroom that the large format acoustic panels (dimensions 2500 x 1250 mm) could be used to produce acoustic areas up to 200 square meters large without joints.
The acoustic ceiling system Alvaro glass also accepts systemintegrated building engineering installations without problems and easily meets the requirements for the building material class A2 (incombustible).
Despite the different acoustic tasks - soundabsorbing or sound-reflecting - the visible surface of the ceiling system can be uniformly designed throughout and appear as a single unit. Practically any wishes with regards to colour design and plaster textures are open to designers and interior architects.
