RunningBall – New CEO and further growth
The Board of Directors of RunningBall AG, the global leader in real-time sports information, has appointed Giancarlo Tottoli as the company’s new CEO. The company is also boosting its strategic activities and bringing them together in the Swiss-based holding corporation.
(firmenpresse) - RunningBall AG is a leading supplier of computer-aided football match analyses, with a number of subsidiaries including RunningBall Sports Information. RunningBall mainly supplies its data to bookmakers, media corporations, football associations and clubs, and university research institutes. Since its foundation in 2006 the company has experienced strong, product-driven growth.
In the light of this favourable development the group’s Board of Directors has decided to expand operating structures, appointing Swiss Giancarlo Tottoli as CEO of RunningBall from 1 March 2010. Tottoli (53) previously worked for a variety of companies in the same industry, most recently as Chief Business Development Officer at Opta Sports.
Giancarlo Tottoli has spent the last couple of months familiarizing himself with his new tasks, and sees a bright future on the company’s horizon. “RunningBall has developed a unique software and hardware package, enabling specially qualified scouts to gather data at the stadiums and transfer it to their clients. As this data is entered and transferred in real time using high-speed data transmission, our services are highly sought-after, particularly by bookmakers offering live betting.”
In view of the conflict surrounding sports data and sports betting, one of the new CEO’s proclaimed priorities is to cooperate with the football leagues. “RunningBall wants to work with the leagues, not against them”. First cooperation talks have already been held.
Tapping into new fields of business will not only strengthen the corporate structures, but also bring further growth potential. “To date we have concentrated primarily on football. But our products can equally be used for other types of sport,” comments Tottoli.
The founder of RunningBall, Hans Thomas Gross, welcomes the appointment of Tottoli to the operative helm of the company. “Our growth means that operating structures and processes as well as our PR and marketing activities all need to be adapted to the rapidly changing environment. Tottoli has the necessary experience and many contacts in the sports industry amongst the media, associations and rights holders.”
The new corporate structure will allow Gross to concentrate as president of the Board of Directors on strategic tasks and maintaining existing customer relationships, as well as on developing new products and services.
