New Ethernet Solutions From Actelis Networks Will Dramatically Change How Service Providers Deliver Advanced Broadband Services
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Actelis' Ground-Breaking Ethernet Advancements More Than Double the Rate and
Reach Over Competing Solutions
LONDON--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) - Actelis Networks®, the leading global
supplier of Ethernet over copper solutions, today announced at Light Reading's
Ethernet Expo Europe event that it is now shipping new ground-breaking
solutions, as part of its industry-leading portfolio of Ethernet in the First
Mile (EFM) access products, that will dramatically change the landscape for
broadband deployments over existing network infrastructures. For telecom service
providers and enterprises worldwide, Actelis Networks has significantly extended
the capabilities of EFM over bonded copper solutions to deliver superior
broadband capabilities through its newly developed Dynamic Rate Boost (DRB) and
enhanced Dynamic Spectral Shaping (DSS) technologies. Powered by Actelis'
patented and award-winning EFMplus(TM) technology, the company's latest
pioneering innovation radically enhances the performance and "spectral
friendliness," while providing a major reduction in CAPEX and OPEX by optimizing
the usage of equipment capacity when utilizing fewer pairs for the same
high-speed broadband services.
Actelis' Ethernet access devices and aggregation systems already deliver the
best performing and most reliable Ethernet service over bonded-copper links. Now
the company's product portfolio delivers unprecedented broadband rates and reach
while significantly minimizing any impact to neighboring services. These new
advances will radically change how Ethernet networks are deployed, greatly
benefiting all applications including enhanced high-speed Internet connectivity,
dedicated networks for Transparent LAN services, mobile and DSLAM backhaul, and
Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) networking.
"Actelis Networks is reaching new heights with our latest Ethernet technology
breakthroughs. Our patented DRB and DSS capabilities will provide carriers and
enterprises with the greatest rate, reach and reliability by delivering superior
broadband capacity and network efficiency where they need it most -- the access
network," said Eric Vallone, vice president of marketing at Actelis Networks.
"These significant advances are enabling carriers and other network operators to
easily and economically expand their bandwidth offering and extend coverage
further into their customer serving areas."
Actelis' DRB technology further optimizes transmission over multiple copper
pairs, delivering more than 2x rate and reach, compared to competing EFM
solutions available today. The combination of Actelis' DRB technology, along
with symmetrical higher rates of up to 15Mpbs per single copper pair, provides
significant performance advantages, enhanced reliability and substantial
reduction of CAPEX and OPEX.
With enhanced DSS capabilities built in, Actelis' standards-based and spectrally
compliant XR239 EFM Repeaters can now support up to 15Mbps per single copper
pair and more than 100Mbps using 8-pair bonded links. Actelis' DSS technology
enables its XR239 EFM Repeaters to ensure compliance with industry standards as
well as regional spectral requirements. Actelis' DSS virtually eliminates the
impact on ADSL/ADSL2+/VDSL2 without sacrificing performance of either service.
This means that Actelis' XR239 EFM Repeaters, now in their fifth generation, can
be deployed to provide even higher symmetrical throughput and longer reach to
new and existing customers throughout the access network. This will enable
service providers to deploy repeaters further into their customer serving area
for delivery of advanced broadband services, including backhauling voice and
data traffic from DSLAMs and mobile base stations.
As service providers continue to expand their portfolio of advanced broadband
services, such as VoIP, TelePresence and mobile services, they must ensure that
underlying networks adequately meet today's demands and provide an evolutionary
path to meet the demands of tomorrow while preserving their bottom line.
Actelis' latest technology breakthroughs do just that by enabling delivery of
30Mbps of bandwidth using the same copper that currently delivers 2Mbps or less
using existing T1/E1 technology.
"Actelis' latest technology innovations achieve new speeds, reach and quality
for EFM over bonded-copper deployments," stated Michael Howard, co-founder and
principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "More than 500,000 Actelis EFM ports
have been shipped, and the new product improvements should help service
providers cross current distance and capacity barriers, leading to greater
broadband penetration."
