Frankfurt, 12. March 2010. The Vtion Group, one of the three leading
suppliers of wireless data solutions for mobile computer use in China, has
announced sales of 170,023 data card units for the month of February 2010,
at stable prices compared to January 2010. Though the volume expectedly is
down from January due to a full week business closure for the Chinese New
Year, this volume represents an increase of 227% over February 2009. Due to
competitive reasons, going forward, Vtion has decided to disclose the exact
average sales price on a quarterly basis rather than on a monthly basis.
'As we mentioned in our release of the January sales figures, our volume
for February is down somewhat from January, given that we lost a full
business week due to the Chinese New Year celebration,' states Vtion CEO
Chen Guoping. 'However, with the Spring Festival now behind us, we expect
to see an acceleration in the rate at which the telecom operators in China
expand their user bases, indicating that we will see stronger demand going
forward from this point in the year. We are also happy to see that our
prices remained stable,' he continues.
For the first two months of 2010, Vtion has enjoyed selling prices higher
than those of the last two months of 2009. The company places strong
emphasis on introducing high-end products in order to maintain a strong
ASP.
The Chinese wireless network industry is currently going through a process
of market development from second generation networks to network standards
of the third mobile phone generation - known as 3G standards. China is the
only country in the world with three different 3G wireless standards, the
CDMA 2000 EVDO Network operated by China Telecom, the WCDMA Network
operated by China Unicom and the TD-SCDMA Network operated by China Mobile.
Network rollouts for the latter two networks are still in progress; the
Vtion Group is expecting the completion of the establishment of 3G mobile
networks to lead to a further increase in demand for wireless data cards in
China.
