FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Snuko BlackBox a Saviour for Stolen Laptops
London, England - March 9, 2010
A REVOLUTIONARY new piece of software is poised to end the misery of
millions who lose their laptops or have them stolen.
The Snuko BlackBox is an ingenious anti-theft gizmo that can locate and
lock netbooks and notebooks that have been lost or nabbed by thieves.
It can also help police prosecute offenders by automatically taking
pictures and videos of the thieves using the stolen computer.
The anti-theft software also has the ability to protect and secure the
laptop's most important files and data on to a remote backup server, where
it can be retrieved by the owner.
UK-based IT and security company Snuko is shortly planning to expand the
use of the anti-theft software to locate lost or stolen mobile phones.
A Snuko spokesperson said: 'When the owner reports their that their
computer is lost or stolen, via Snuko.com, the Snuko anti-theft software
starts getting to work.
'If a laptop has been stolen, it remotely takes a picture of the thief,
geo-locates the laptop within 10 to 20 metres and automatically removes
vital information from the laptop. It then shuts down the computer and
informs the thief with a message on the screen that police will be
notified.
'The software can also securely encrypt your important files and data so
they cannot be accessed by anyone else but the computer owner.'
When the software is activated, it also has an automatic screenshot
function. Every two minutes a screenshot is made and transmitted over the
web to the computer owner's Snuko account and this can also help to track
down and identify the unauthorised user.
If the laptop has a built-in webcam, photographs are also automatically
taken of the offender, which may also help police achieve a prosecution.
Having gathered enough information and backed up all the data, the
anti-theft software finally locks the laptop automatically.
The anti-theft device also encrypts the data on the computer and creates an
online backup, which is stored on Snuko's server. The laptop owner can use
their encryption key to retrieve their data from the customer support page
on the Snuko.com website - even without the missing laptop.
The Snuko spokesperson added: 'We believe our new software is a real
necessity for anybody who owns a computer. It is easy to lose a laptop and
they are also an easy target for thieves because so many people leave them
unattended.'
Owners of netbooks, notebooks and other similar devices can get the Snuko
anti-theft software via www.snuko.com
After paying a Euro 17.99 registration fee, the software can be installed
via the Snuko website. Users then set up an online account and log their
computer's serial number and details.
The software is compatible with all current Windows operating systems,
including Windows 7.
