Management changes at LBi Lost Boys underline course set

(Thomson Reuters ONE) - Amsterdam, 10 February 2010 - A number of management changes have been made atLBi Lost Boys in Amsterdam, lending further shape and content to the course setfor the Amsterdam internet company at the beginning of 2008. Marcel Houtman (37)has been named managing director. Houtman, who was already responsible foroperations within the company, will in this role take over day-to-day leadershipfrom Igor Milder (38). Milder has in turn been named CEO of LBi Lost Boys inAmsterdam and will be engaged in extending the activities of the parent companyLBi in China. LBi Lost Boys has also named Maarten van de Vijfeijken (55), whooriginates from FHV/BBDO, as creative director with the role of giving addedshape to creating brands in digital communication.According to CEO Igor Milder, LBi Lost Boys has made great strides since 2008.The board changes also fit in with the company's further growth strategy asprovider, not only of digital services and interactive media, but also ofstrategically anchoring branding in this new world. 'Over the past two years wehave professionalised our technical policy, streamlined operations and put inplace a high-value customer service apparatus. Marcel Houtman, as one of thearchitects, has been very closely involved in this. It is thus only logical thathe should take the baton over from me,' Milder said, explaining the changes.Igor Milder continued, 'When devising the best solutions for what the clientdemands, creativity is no longer sufficient; nowadays thorough knowledge of howto combine marketing and technology is also needed. And to round off the whole,we are proud that Maarten van de Vijfeijken has joined us. He is in a goodposition, as a result of his past experience, to provide our clients with addedvalue in the digital world with his specific knowledge. This is precisely thecomplete combination that makes our added value exceptional.'Marcel Houtman believed that 'the new foundations' have been laid over the pasttwo years: 'But the work is by no means finished. The point now is to extend anddeepen the relationship with the clients. Many new initiatives have beenlaunched, and we now need to anchor these.''Creating brand domains on the internet is becoming increasingly important,'Maarten van de Vijfeijken added. 'All the knowledge and expertise is there inLBi Lost Boys to create a winning internet strategy for our clients, just as itis to create these interactive elements. Brand perception 3.0 has now been addedto this. A strong triad combining conduct, knowledge and attitude has beencreated by this.' In his previous position as creative director at FHV/BBDO, Vande Vijfeijken acquired great experience in positioning the brands of well-knownDutch and international concerns.Ruurd Priester (strategy director) and Dirk van de Bosch (commercial director)make up the remaining members of the LBi Lost Boys management team.LBi Lost Boys employs a staff of around 125.
